Drag frames, snap them to a grid, check spacing, then print a measurement layout for the wall.

Default frame gap

Start with 2 to 3 inches between frames. Use 1.5 inches for tiny frames and up to 4 inches for oversized pieces.

  • 2 inch minimum for tight grids
  • 2.5 inch average for mixed frames
  • 3 inch gap for large rooms
Center height

The average center of the arrangement should usually land between 57 and 60 inches from the floor.

  • lower above sofas
  • higher on stair landings
  • keep eye level consistent through hallways
Furniture relationship

Above a sofa or console, keep the gallery wall around two-thirds the width of the furniture so the arrangement feels anchored.

  • leave 6 to 10 inches above furniture
  • avoid wider-than-sofa layouts
  • center on the furniture, not always the wall

Plan the layout before you hang

A strong gallery wall starts with the outside boundary, the center height, and a repeatable gap. Use this page to choose the direction, then test the exact frame sizes in the planner before marking the wall.
